Local Travel: Los Padres National Forest
It's no secret that I often dream of travel to far-off and exotic places. But it's important to remember that some of the most beautiful discoveries can be found in your own backyard. Last weekend, some friends and I drove about an hour north of LA and landed in the Los Padres National Forest. We enjoyed some gorgeous hikes to Rose Valley Falls and Sisar Canyon and got to explore the part of California that actually boasts wide open spaces.
We were sure to top off our adventures by sitting around the campfire, telling stories and eating great food: chili with cornbread, butterfinger s'mores, and campurritos. Hardly roughing it when the food is so tasty!
Do you have any "local adventures" in or near your city you've been wanting to try?

this is gorgeous! i've been living in the northern va/dc area for 4.5 years now and i love going to Great Falls which is a lovely spot for hiking and has some great waterfalls!
Great pics! And it's always important to explore the area around you, travelers tend to forget that. :)
That's beautiful - only one hour outside of LA?! Crazy
