Wanderlust: Paris

Oh, Paris. I visited you when I was 20 years old. Three girls hopped on a plane from Madrid and landed in your beautiful city. We spent three days roaming gallivanting down your streets and marveling at your structures: the Sacre Coeur, Notre Dame, the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower. Oh, the Eiffel Tower. As many pictures as I'd seen of the Eiffel Tower before my first visit, nothing compared to the feeling I felt seeing the awe-inspiring structure in person. And then, to see it again at night, lighting up like the most magnificent glitter snow globe on earth, there was no stopping the giggles and joy escaping my body. Sometimes I dream of living the rest of my days in your presence, soaking up the beauty of life. Paris, you do a great job living up to the hype.

I, too, was 20 when I first saw Paris in all its glory. I still remember seeing the Eiffel Tower for the first time. It was incredibly surreal. I turned the corner, and there it was.

Everything about that weekend is nostalgic. I was studying abroad in London and decided to vacation in Paris for a weekend. I took a day trip to Versailles, hiked the steps in Montmartre, watched fire dancers turn the Sacre Coeur into a magical backdrop for their performance, visited Notre Dame, wandered about Luxembourg Gardens, saw Paris from the top of the tower, shopped on the Champs Elysees, at a pastry on the Champs de Mars. It was completely magical. I could go on for days.

When I marry, I will return to the streets of Paris with my love and let him experience the magic, with hope that he falls in love with it too.

Ooo, I love the last shot with the hot air balloons! I went to Paris when I was 19, but I think I owe it a revisit. There's so much I didn't get to see the first time around!
